SEPTEMBER - 2009 The
International Symposium on a topic “Floods and Modern Methods of
Control Measures” dedicated to the eightieth anniversary of the
Institute will be held under the aegis and financial support of UNESCO
on September 23-28, 2009 at the Water Management Institute.

NOVEMBER - 2008 The
Republican Meeting “Development of Measures to Protect Kvareli against
Debris Flows” chaired by Al.Gongadze, Dr. of Physical Sciences,
President’s Science Adviser, was held in the Institute on the 17th day
of November. The issue concerned the deterioration of erosion-debris
situation of the Duruji River.
OCTOBER - 2008 The
International Forum was held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) on October 1-3rd
days, 2008 under the aegis of International Scientific Association
(MAAH)

Meeting chaired by Al.Gongadze, Dr. of Physical Sciences, President’s
Science Adviser, and dedicated to the assessment of environmental
hazards caused by fires in Borjomi and Gori forests as a result of
military actions taken place in Georgia was held on the 8th day of
October (>> read more).
SEPTEMBER - 2008 The
Institute took active participation in the State Committee established
by the Prime Minister, aiming to assess environmental hazards caused by
military actions in Georgia.
AUGUST - 2008 The
Institute and “I.G.I” Ltd. entered into the contract aiming to
implement laboratory analysis of soils for Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and
Baku-Tbilisi-Supsa pipelines on the 1st day of August. The agreement with “Tbilisi Water” Ltd. aiming to supply Tbilisi with drinking water was executed on the 25th day of August.
JULY - 2008 Beno
Steffani, Office Manager for Swiss programmes in disaster risks in the
Southern Caucasus, Forecast Duty Officer in natural disaster risks,
visited the Institute on the 4th day of July (>> read more). Working
meeting attended by Prof. Dr. G. Gavardashvili (Director of the
Institute) was held in Minsk (Belarus) on July 10-13th days, 2008 under
the aegis of International Scientific Association (MAAH) and CIS (>> read more). The
Institute and “Fibre-Concrete” Ltd. entered into the contract to use
fibre-reinforced concrete technologies for different types of
environmental protection structures on the 18th day of July. The Institute and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) entered into the contract on the 27th July (>> read more).
JUNE – 2008 The
14th International Conference on Transport and Sedimentation of Solid
Particles held in Saint-Petersburg on the 28th day of June (>> read more).
FEBRUARY - 2008 The
representatives of UNESCO’s International Water Management Institute
(Holland, Delft), Drs. Lazlo Hide and Krishna Prasad visited the
Institute on the First day of February.
JANUARY - 2008 Grants financed by the Georgia National Science Foundation in 2008: 1.
Measures to Control Erosion Processes at the slopes adjacent to the
Georgian Military Road aiming to Improve its Functional Stability,
2008-2010; 2. Assessment of the Ecological Stability of Georgian Irrigation Schemes, 2008-2010; 3. Assessment and Measures to stabilize Mountainous Slopes within the TRASEKA corridor, 2008-2009. International Grants The
Institute won the competition of Euro Grant. Euro Grant Project [FP-7]
– “The Black Sea Scientific Network (SCENE)”, 2009-2011; The
Institute submitted 16 Grant Projects to National Science Foundation,
and 3 International Projects – to Foreign Countries (Germany,
Switzerland, and Belgium).
